Avanos Seeds is the first African seed company to recognize the importance of African traditional vegetables, and has pioneered improved varieties of such traditional and indigenous crops, including tsunga, covo, pumpkin (muboora) and mapudzi, bringing these near-forgotten crops back into mainstream vegetable production, empowering farmers and enriching the African dietary variety and nutritional value.
Avanos Seeds pioneered Covo Rugare GOLD Plus, Africa’s first hybrid African Kale, transforming the production of Southern Africa’s staple vegetable.
